What to expect
Join Paul Gossage from Shropshire Council and Mark Hooper from Visit Shropshire for a free tourism workshop designed for town and parish councils and tourism organisations looking to strengthen their tourism offer and work more collaboratively.
This is a valuable opportunity to connect with other locations, share ideas and build partnerships that can help attract more visitors to spend longer in your destination and across Shropshire.
The workshop will focus on developing engaging tours, trails and itineraries that showcase what makes our towns and parishes special.
Working together, participants will explore potential county-wide themes—such as churches with compelling stories, food and drink experiences, arts and crafts, industrial heritage, geology, unique landscapes, family friendly experiences, accessible venues, independent retail, markets, historic buildings, houses and gardens, to name but a few ideas.
Shropshire Council needs your local knowledge and creativity to come up with at least five strong themes with real potential to be developed into visitor trails.
From there, participants will begin to map out the routes and identify the key attractions, locations and stories that could bring each trail to life. Once complete, the trails will be loaded onto the Visit Shropshire Website and shared with the press, travel trade and visitors.
We also want to map out the different promotional opportunities you can use to market your trails to visitors, including information boards, TICs, websites and social media channels.
Crucially, the learning doesn’t stop there. This session will give you the confidence and practical tools to develop your own tours and trails locally, that are focused on themes that are distinctive to your area.
It’s a chance to collaborate, think creatively and start shaping trails that encourage visitors to stay longer and explore more.
